CALL FOR MARINE MONITORS

The next Marine Debris Surveys will be held Saturday, Aug. 23th and Sept. 20th, at 9 a.m. We meet at North Peninsula State Recreation Area, north of Ormond Beach on A1A, at the last beach parking lot in Volusia County (Highbridge Road).  The survey takes about two hours* and volunteers are welcome!  (*The more volunteers, the sooner we’re done!)   Call Ann Arnold at (386) 409-3742 to volunteer, to verify how much we need you, or for information.

PROGRAM FOR AUGUST MEETING

COME TO DE LEON SPRINGS STATE PARK

 WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6TH !

Come early to picnic (bring your own goodies ), swim, canoe or kayak.

Admission is $5.00 per vehicle for up to 8 people.   At 4:00pm,

“Wild Persimmon Trail Walk” (approximately 4.2 miles) led by

Outings Chair, Marjorie Byron, a Sierra Club trained outings leader.

Please sign up at the front gate office if you plan to do this fun walk.

At 6:30pm,

“Black Bears in the Park”

 presentation in the park's museum by  

Ranger Donna

will tell us about the various duties and challenges of this non-profit,

membership-based organization dedicated to

protecting the St Johns River.

                 Refreshments will be served.

Driving Directions

Take US Hwy 17 North from Deland for approximately six miles, following the State Park signs. Turn left onto Ponce DeLeon Blvd and you will travel approximately one mile to the entrance to DeLeon Springs State Park.
