Democracy and Environment:
Clean Money Clean Elections

Our Position: support
Bill Number: SB1264
Sponsor: Senator Frederica Wilson
Legislative Session: 2006

Our coalition Clean Money Clean Elections consensus Bill SB1264 and SB1262 filed by Senator Wilson shows what meaningful campaign finance reform would look like in Florida: real voluntary spending limits in all state elections with public financing for Clean Money participants to give all qualified candidates a fair chance and to decrease the disproportionate impact of special interest, private money in our runaway system of elections.

The bill is based upon the successful CM program in such states as, Maine, Arizona, North Carolina, New Mexico, Connecticut, and New Jersey, as well as new programs in Portland, Oregon, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
