See Important Notice March Program: "Exploring the Preserves of Hillsborough County with Sierra Club Outings"

3/10/2014

Tampa Bay Sierra Club has recently moved its Monthly General Meeting to the Unity of Tampa Church in South Tampa on Monday evenings. However, beginning in May, we will be moving back to Wednesdays and meeting in the Seminole Heights Library (April 2nd's General Meeting will still be at Unity on Monday evening). Stay tuned for details.

Unity Is located in South Tampa at 3302 W. Horatio near the intersection of Henderson Avenue and Azeele St. Ample free parking is available adjacent to the building.

Get an up-close look at the many hiking and paddling opportunities available at Hillsborough County's preserves with a program by Outings Chair Gail Parsons. Gail will give us a look at the diverse properties open for public enjoyment, some longtime favorites and others new or hidden gems! Her program takes us along on her Sierra Club outings, and provides factual information on the nature, wildlife and habitat found at each of these conservation properties.

5:30 pm Growth Mgmt Committee
6:30 pm Social Time and New Member Orientation
7:00 pm Speaker: Gail Parsons, Tampa Bay Sierra Club Outings Chair and Vice Chair of the Tampa Bay Sierra Club Executive Committee

You'll go kayaking in Cockroach Bay, and hiking along the banks of the Alafia River Corridor and Brooker Creek Headwaters Preserve. Check out the birds, gopher tortoises, wild turkeys and other critters at the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness and other wilderness properties. Many preserves are part of the county's Environmental Land Acquisition Program (ELAP).

All Tampa Bay Sierra Club meetings are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Marcia Biggs at marcia.biggs@florida.sierraclub.org. Like us on FACEBOOK!
