![]() November General Meeting: "A Year on the Hillsborough River"11/14/2012Motivated by a desire to know her watershed, Laura Runge committed to walking the Hillsborough River each month over the course of a year, and she recorded her observations through writing and photography. Sometimes she traveled alone, other times she brought others who added to her knowledge and experience of the river. She visited the river at locations around her home in Temple Terrace, including the bridge at Crystal Springs Road in Zephyrhills, Hillsborough River State Park, John Sargeant Park, Lettuce Lake Park, Rotary, and Riverhills Park. The Hillsborough River, she came to realize, is an integral component in the natural world in which we live, breathe, work and play. Her “nature-memoir” program will lead us to a deeper understanding of the human role in the ecosystem and our kinship with the natural world. Prof. Runge was invited to present this program in October during the USF Humanities Institute’s celebration “Hillsborough River: The Human Connection.” Come and share your connection to the river at this interactive program.
