A Hillsborough River Paddle and Clean-up10/20/2012Where: Meet at Riverhills Park boat ramp near 56th St.
Time: 9AMWe will be participating in Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful 25th Annual River Cleanup. All the while exploring a hidden gem located in the middle of urban Tampa and 2.5 miles directly south of USF. We will paddle downstream from the Riverhills Park past the 40th St bridge and explore and learn about the unknown oxbow called Orange Lake by the locals. This is an undeveloped section of the river in the middle of our urban city. We will end our trip near the dam at Rowlett Park. (See pictures on our website in the Photo Corner 2009 oxbow). We will learn about the natural history of the oxbow, where City of Tampa gets itís water, the wildlife and more. Approximately 5 miles. This will be a Service Outing so come prepared to pick up litter floating in the river. Bring snacks, water, sunscreen, etc. After the paddle we can join other volunteers at Lowry Park for Rolliní on the River Rally including live music and free food and featuring the Recycle Regatta.If you plan on attending please contact the leader: Gail Parsons email@example.com Cell: 813-928-1412
