Tampa Joins Beach Sites in Hands Across the Sand8/4/2012It's time to join hands on Saturday, August 4 at 11am!
Hands Across the Sand has been a global success with thousands of events in all 50 states and over 40 countries worldwide. Joining hands on a nearby shoreline is a powerful way to say NO to offshore drilling and YES to clean energy! In Tampa, a new location is along the Hillsborough River near I-275 at Water Works Park, 1910 N. Ola Ave. Other Hands locations include the Gandy Bridge shoreline just east of the Channel 10 station (St. Pete side), the Tradewinds Sandpiper Resort, 6000 Gulf Blvd. on St. Pete Beach, and Indian Rocks Beach at the 18th Avenue Park. For more information, go to www.HandsAcrosstheSand.com and click on Florida. Participants should try to arrive by 11 am and bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a sign. This event will take place rain or shine. Come out and share solidarity with your neighbors, school and church and social groups, local businesses and public officials who want to keep our shores and waterways clean.
