Serenova overnight Backpack trip Jan 10-11
Ben lead the 4 of us-Margie, Gerry, Brian and I on a backpacking hike on the Serenova Tract in North Pasco county.
The day was gorgeous blue skies and perfect 70's temperature. We walked in about 4 miles to the group camping area through woods and prairie settings.
Once we got to camp-it was lunch time and we set up our individual
tents-which we had quite a variety-Brian and his self made tent, Gerry
and his hammock, Ben and Margie with their backpacking tent and me with
my tent complete with heater. Needless to say the backpack weights
varied quite a bit with the lightest being 12 pounds and the heaviest 50
pounds-no comment on which was mine.
After lunch and setting up we went on a hike for approximately 6-7 miles thru the woods and along the power lines which included a 15 MINUTE walk to the river-somehow that ended up actually being 45 minutes. We saw a few birds and one deer along the way.
Back to camp for dinner, campfire, jiffy pop popcorn and fellowship. The
full moon was so bright it felt like a huge spotlight in the sky- Brian
had set his tent up in the clearing and felt as if the sun was up the
entire night.
The next morning we woke to the sound of song birds and heavy fog. We had breakfast by the campfire, broke camp and hiked out which took less than an hour.
Another great outing-THANKS BEN
