FLORIDA HOMETOWN DEMOCRACY AMENDMENT 4 VOTE YES |
FLORIDA HOMETOWN DEMOCRACY has a new WEBSITE
Amendment 4 is a proposed amendment to the Florida Constitution sponsored by Florida Hometown Democracy, a non-partisan, grass-roots group. Over 1,000,000 Florida voters signed the Florida Hometown Democracy petition to qualify this important citizens' reform for the November 2010 ballot. Amendment 4 will give you, the Florida voter, a vote on growth in your community.
Each of us has a huge stake in growth decisions that can drastically alter our community's future for generations to come. Each community has adopted its own comprehensive plan: a long-term master plan for sensible growth. Currently, elected city and county commissioners have exclusive power to make changes to the plan. Rising taxes, gridlocked roads, dwindling, degraded water supplies and Florida's disappearing beauty are just some of the devastating consequences of Florida politicians' habit of rubberstamping speculative plan changes.
Hometown Democracy Amendment 4 changes all that by giving voters veto power over these changes to your community's master plan for growth.
With Amendment 4, your power to vote on growth will enable you to preserve and protect your neighborhood and your community.

The new Florida Hometown Democracy web site is up and a must see. You can follow up on lead- ins to a number of news stories from around the state. Especially look at the top link for Campaign Materials; you will find downloads for bumper strips, t-shirts, yard signs and the FHD slide show in two formats. There are also links to You-tube videos about FHD.
Everything you need is there to get actively engaged in saving Florida from further ravages by the growth industry. Opponents of Amendment 4 continue to broadcast disinformation and we need folks to counter at every opportunity. Use the comment option to challenge the lies that you see in news stories, columns, op-eds and on blogs.
Kick-off events have been taking place in Jacksonville, West Palm, Sarasota and points in between. FHD is gearing up to alert and arouse our citizens to participate in actions that began once our ballot initiative was approved for the November 2, 2010 ballot. The momentum has to continue—
l e-mail a vote for #4 message to all your address book names
l obtain an endorsement from your garden club or civic organization
l table at local events; pass out the flyers available on the FHD web site
l help raise funds by selling bumper strips and t-shirts
l schedule a speaker to explain Amendment 4 at a local organization meeting
l show the FHD slide show in your living room to neighbors using a DVD
(This slide show was shown at a national meeting to 125 people who praised the campaign.)
