Manatee-Sarasota group general meeting

Where: Edson Keith Mansion, Phillippi Estate Park, 5500 S. Tamiami
Trail, Sarasota (meeting space provided at no charge by Sarasota County Parks
and Recreation)

Fellow Sierrans and members of the Friends of the Carlton Reserve
will describe the ongoing wildlife monitoring project in the T. Mabry
Carlton Jr. Memorial Reserve.
Up to four digital cameras donated by Friends of the Carlton have been on watch 24/7 since 2001, recording wildlife on the Carlton tract (including three photos of a Florida panther, see below). More than 800 photos are being entered into a database that will serve as a resource for land managers and researchers. It could be used for research in a variety of areas, including endangered species, human impact on wildlife, hog trapping, road and trail building, burn regimes, and other land management issues.
