Description: Chassahowitzka River paddle at 9 am at the Chassahowitzka River Campground boat ramp. Directions: North on Suncoast Expressway to the end at US 98. Go west on US 98 to US 19. Cross the US 19 intersection to CR 480 (aka Miss Maggie Dr.) Proceed 1.8 miles to the campground entrance and then to the river and boat ramp. Parking is $5.00 and includes launch fee. Car pooling recommended. Canoe rental is $30 for full day. We will explore this River that has been designated an Outstanding Florida Water, learn how the river got it's name and paddle to the many springs and runs that feed into the river. An opportunity to observe manatee, river otter, alligators and many wading birds in one of Florida's more wild and untamed areas. For the adventurous bring mask, fins and snorkel.
