Shelly Fine Wins State Award

 We’re proud to announce that Shelly Fine, one of our outstanding outings leaders in the Northeast Florida Group, has been awarded the 2011 Otter Award for Group Outings Service from our state Sierra Club. 

   This award honors a Group Sierra Club member who has done an outstanding job for the Group’s outing program.  Shelly has led, and continues to lead, many successful outings for our Group.  

   Shelly began as an outings leader in early 2008.  Since then, she has led over 40 outings.  Shelly organizes some of the more standard outings, such as hikes on local trails, but she also has introduced us to more unique outings such as tours of local springs, St. Augustine historical tours, and boat tours of the Okefenokee.  She has also been known to set a pretty brisk pace on her “strenuous” walks!
