Hike the Spanish Pond Trail

Details:
One of Jax’s prettiest short hikes, this 2.9-mile balloon loop travels over wooded ancient dunes of a maritime hammock and even hillier Timucuan shell mounds. See a hermit’s cabin, a marsh overlook and even a Confederate soldier’s grave.
Bring water, hat, snack, sunscreen, bug spray. No Pets.

Directions:
NEAR: Jacksonville
Directions to trailhead: From the intersection of 9A/295 and Monument Rd, take Monument Rd east for 4 miles to meet Ft Caroline Rd. Turn right on Ft Caroline Rd; follow it for 0.1 m, then turn left, staying on Ft Caroline Rd. Turn left toward Ft Caroline visitor center; Spanish Pond Trail parking is on the right across from the entrance to Ft Caroline.
