Camping and Exploring at Florida Caverns State Park
Apr 1, 2011
through Apr 3,
Friday 5:00 p.m. - Sunday
The Florida Caverns State Park, in Marianna, Florida is something really special to see with stalactites, stalagmites and other cave formations. The unique situation of high bluffs above the Chipola River and the floodplain and swamps means that the visitor can visit 10 separate natural communities and see wildflowers and trees more commonly seen further north. Well camp for the weekend and leave for home on Sunday. Well enjoy the hiking trails and photographing the wildflowers on Saturday. Saturday night it's time for our Sierra Club pot luck supper. Bring a special food to share. You won't want to miss the guided cave tour on Saturday or Sunday. Attendance for each tour is limited and reservations can be made at the Visitors Center in the park. Tour fees: 0-2 years of age-free, 3-12 $5.00 plus tax each, 13 and up $8.00 plus tax each. More information on the park is available at the Florida Caverns State Park website: http://www.floridastateparks.org/floridacaverns/ Phone: 1-(850)-482-9598. YOU MUST MAKE YOUR OWN CAMPSITE RESERVATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE since the campgrounds will fill up quickly. To reserve a site you must book a tent or RV online.
You can camp both nights or just Saturday night. Use the link to the Reserve American website for camping reservations found in the right hand column on the park website.
