Ravine Gardens State Park, Palatka
Mar 4, 2011
Friday 10:30 a.m.
Walk 3 miles on trails surrounded by thousands of azaleas in pinks, purples and whites. This is one of North Floridas most beautiful walks so bring a camera. We will cross two suspension bridges over the creek at the bottom of the 120-foot ravine. An estimated 95,000 azaleas were planted during the 1930s by workers with the Federal Emergency Relief Administration. The park is on National Register of Historic Places.
Outing cancelled in case of heavy rain or changed based on when the azaleas bloom. We will meet in the parks parking lot at 10:30 a.m. Bring water and snacks. We will picnic afterwards. RSVP on Meetup or to June.
Please email June or coordinate on Meetup if you are interested in carpooling from Mandarin. We will drive south along SR 13, the Bartram Trail.
