Hiking on Fort George Island

Details:

Enjoy a leisurely 4.2 mile hike on this special island with its diversity of vegetation and views. The island has been the site of numerous periods of human habitation and also contains the highest hill on the southeastern Atlantic Coast. Limit of 20 hikers with preference given to Sierra Club members. No pets please. Please bring lunch and water.  Please meet in the parking lot of the Ribault Club.

Directions:

The entrance to Fort George Island is on the north side of Heckscher Drive about one half mile north of the Mayport Ferry.  When you get on the island then keep driving right until you see the Ribault Club on your right.
