Outings Leadership Training
Oct 29, 2010
through Oct 31, 2010
Check-in begins at 5 pm Friday and workshop ends on Sunday with lunch around 1 pm
You are invited to attend a weekend of interactive learning, networking with leaders from all Sierra Club outing programs, and of course, lots of fun. The purpose of this training is to provide leaders with the skills to plan safe, happy and inspiring outings that promote the conservation mission of the Sierra Club. This workshop provides the opportunity to welcome new outdoor leaders to the Sierra Club, share and exchange new trip ideas and learn what it takes to lead for other programs in the Club.
This is special and right in our own backyard!!!
This workshop is for new and seasoned leaders involved with or interested in Sierra Clubs Inner City Outings (ICO), Local Outings (Group & Chapter), and National Outings (the trips in Sierra magazine).
The workshop agenda includes interactive modules on trip planning, interpersonal leadership skills assessment, group management strategies, emergency response practice and much more.
Topics will be facilitated in both large group and small breakout group formats. Sessions will also include teamwork and scenario-based role plays.
The workshop is facilitated by Sierra Club volunteers and staff who speak from a wealth of personal trip leading experience.
This workshop will fulfill both the Sierra Club OLT 101 and OLT 201 leadership requirements!
This workshop is limited to 50 people - first come, first served.
$45 covers all meals (Friday dinner through Sunday lunch), snacks, lodging (bunk style) and instructional materials.
