Outing
Enjoying Silver Glen Springs

When:

Aug 28, 2010
Saturday 9:00 a.m.

Details:

Enjoy the cool, refreshing spring and choose between your activities of canoeing, hiking, snorkeling, and/or picnicking. Silver Glen Springs is a park in the Ocala National Forest on Lake George, the second largest freshwater lake in Florida.

There is a lovely two mile trail through a forest of live oaks, cedars, sabal palms, and wildlife.  For those who don't relish hiking in the 95 degree weather, there is a short trail, the Boils Trail, where water bubbles, rising to the surface creating a quicksand-like phenomenon. Bring sunscreen, snorkeling gear, a blanket, water and lunch.

There is a small concession stand. It's $5.50 per person to get in the park and $16.00 for two hours of canoeing. Leave Jacksonville by 7:30 to be at the park by 9 a.m.  Arrange carpools via Meetup
