General Program, Jacksonville: Making Our Homes Greener

Feb 8, 2010
Monday 7:00 pm

Our speaker, Sarah Boren, is the Executive Director for the Green Team Project (GTP) and Executive Director of the U.S. Green Building Council North Florida Chapter.  These are the sites: www.usgbcnf.org  and  www.greenteamproject.org

The GTP’s goal is to educate individuals and businesses to be environmentally responsible in a positive and fun way. Sarah will discuss what exactly is a green home and share with us a couple of case studies including a step by step journey of her own home going through a 2/3 gut rehab and addition from rotted and uneven floors to improving structure and all major systems to improving lightbulbs to become a more energy and water efficient, durable, comfortable, healthy and cost-effective place to live.  In addition to her non-profit work, Sarah also consults and promotes profitability and environmental responsibility in businesses in our area.

Come hear Sarah and learn what your next steps can be in greening and saving money in your household. Please bring your own cup to reduce waste in the landfill.
