Outing
A walk with Naturalist Beverly Fleming

When:

Apr 4, 2009
10:00 am Saturday

Details:

Children welcome!  This is an easy one-hour walk at Alpine Groves.  St. Johns County Park Naturalist Beverly Fleming will tell us about the ecology and history of two new northwest St. Johns County parks. Beverly will lead us on an easy through Alpine Groves, a 54.4 acre former homestead and citrus grove on a bluff overlooking the St. Johns River.  Then we will carpool to nearby Bethluthahatchee, former home of author and human rights activist Stetson Kennedy. Bethluthahatchee, which will open to the public later this year, is famous as a retreat for folksinger Woody Guthrie, who wrote more than 80 songs while in residence there. After a short tour, we will return to Alpine Groves for an optional picnic.
