"Slow Food" Gathering

Nov 17, 2008
6:30 p.m.

The November Slow Food Meeting promises be a most informative gathering!

The First Annual John Barnes “Spirit of Slow Food” Award will be presented to a member of the local community who best embodies the principles that Slow Food First Coast champions. It would be great to have a big turnout to show support and commitment to that individual.

In addition to presenting this award, a panel discussion and a number of guest speakers will be on hand, led by Jennifer McCharen, who spearheaded the Jacksonville Carbon Neutral Initiative and has since begun working in the field of sustainable agriculture with Down to Earth Farm in Duval County.Down to Earth Farm is owned by Brian and Kristen Lipinski, who will also be attending.

A number of local farmers have been invited to share their experiences, challenges, successes, and products with each other and with Slow Food First Coast members. It will be great to get these wonderful folks together in one room so we can “connect the dots” and get to know the local faces of farming!
