Cruisin' Mayport: A Tour with Sandra Tuttle

Sandra Tuttle, a 9th-generation Mayport resident, is offering Sierra Club members a tour of Mayport Fishing Village from past, present to future between 9 a.m. and 12 noon followed by an optional lunch. Ms. Tuttle will highlight Mayport Village's historic significance from Captain Ribault to fishing to revitalization, the impact of the naval base, its Timacuan Preservation connection with wildlife, and its dependence on the St. Johns River.
Mayport is home of the Mayport Lighthouse, the Marine Science and Education Center, and Mayport Spanish Cemetery. Mayport Village is designated a "Working Waterfront Community." Don't miss this important overview with discussion of the impact of cruise terminal with cruise ships on Mayport's future if Jaxport builds its cruise terminal This outing will include walking, slide show, and discussion followed by optional lunch (your cost).
Meet at the parking lot next to Singleton's, by the St John River ferry dock on AIA at 9 a.m. Wear your walking shoes and then enjoy lunch at Singleton's at noon. RSVP for tour and lunch reservations. Tour limited to 25. Leader: Karen Kempf.
