The Miami Group Education Committee is made up of teachers and other volunteers who want to see that the concepts of preserving the wildness of nature, conservation of natural resources, and environmental activism are part of a child's school experience.

We encourage nature and environmental clubs in the schools in Miami Dade County. We support programs that teach children about nature and their environment. For more information e-mail Miami Group Education Chair

Green Awards

Each year the Miami Sierra Club holds a competition for the best environmental education efforts by a class, or school environmental club.

It’s time once again to recognize students, teachers, schools, clubs, Scouts, and community youth groups that are doing good deeds for the sake of the environment. The 18th Annual Sierra Club Miami Group Green Awards, presented at the April general meeting, recognizes our community’s youngest environmentalist and their adult leaders for promoting and leading environmental education activities.

If you want to nominate someone caught doing good for the environment, please e-mail Maria Papazian at miami-enviroed@florida.sierraclub.org for an application. The deadline is April 30th, 2008.
