The Calusa Group of the Sierra Club includes people from a four county area in Southwest Florida: Lee, Collier, Hendry and Glades. We currently have over 1000 members in the southwest Florida area. The Calusa Group takes its name from the Calusa Indians, who are now extinct. The Calusa Indians lived and thrived along the coast of Southwest Florida. They thrived through living in harmony with our Southwest Florida environment
Our Mission
The Sierra Club's Statement of Purpose is: To explore, enjoy and protect the wild places of the earth; to practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives. The Calusa Group of the Sierra Club needs your help and your input to become more effective in reducing the inroads on Florida’s delicate ecosystem.
