Florida Forever: Our State Land Conservation Program

Florida Forever, begun in 2000, is the state land conservation and acquisition program.

On April 17, House members of the Budget Conference Committee agreed to include $300 million in Florida Forever funding in next year's budget.  This represents an important, hard-won outcome for Florida Forever! Many thanks to everyone who contacted elected leaders and worked in other ways to urge them to fund Florida Forever.

Florida's Nature Conservancy writes, "A successor to the Florida Forever program that increases the funding devoted to buying and protecting conservation land to meet today’s rising real estate values is urgently needed. If enacted it will complete the state’s vision for protected lands, continue to be a model for the rest of the country, and ensure that Florida will keep a delicate balance between economic prosperity and quality of life."
