These archives of the Miami Sierra Club contain stories from before the year 2000. It is a fact of environmental life that if you win a battle, you win for a while, but if you lose a battle, it is forever lost. We have fought to keep the Everglades from destruction by development, from lack of water (from development north), from pollution by an airport (TWICE), and the battle continues. We have fought to keep oil drilling out of the Eastern Gulf of Mexico and off the Atlantic shores, and the battle continues. We have tried to preserve areas of Virginia Key, and we keep trying. We have fought against water pollution and wetlands destruction by Rock Mining - and although we keep winning in court, we keep having to go back to court. The battle continues.

You can go to the stories listed above, and read about the past. But, we would really like it if you would JOIN US, and continue the fight. Go to Meetings & Events to find the next gathering. Go to Volunteers Needed, to help.
